REPOST/UPDATE: September 16 2016
IT WAS ANNOUNCED late yesterday that the AR Rahman Intimate UK tour is being rescheduled for March 2017.
An AR Rahman Facebook post explains why it is not possible to hold the concerts as originally scheduled. The first concert would have been in London next week (September 22).
He states: “Unfortunately, we realised that we were not going to be able to fix the technical glitches and prepare everything to the level I wish to present to my fans in time for the UK shows.
“With great sadness I accepted the need to reschedule the dates to ensure fans are treated to what will be a truly spectacular night.”
We still have ONE pair of tickets to give away for both London which will now be on March 24 next year at the same venue and Manchester on March 26 at the same venue.
If you have already entered the competition, you do not need to do ANYTHING – if you have answered the question correctly, your entry will go through to the prize draw in March next year.
If you want to enter the competition, read the instructions below please. The new deadline is 4PM, MARCH 3 2017
We will be publicising the competition again, closer to the time of the start of AR Rahman’s UK Intimate Tour. There is no Leeds date now, and tickets holders for Leeds are being offered tickets for the Manchester show.
The rescheduled tour itinerary is like this – March 24 at Wembley SSE Arena in London, March 25 at the Barclay Arena in Birmingham and March 26 in Manchester, at Manchester Arena.

Whether it’s singing, composing or devising scores for films, his tracks have travelled the world and then some.
From Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” (2008) and “127 Hours” (2010) to his tracks for the latest Bollywood historical epic, “Mohenjo Daro“, he is a man in demand and forever committed to producing the best and delivering the truly magnificient.
Now, here’s your chance to see AR Rahman live on his latest UK ‘Intimate Tour’ – we have TWO pairs of standard tickets (£35 each) each to give away.
He spoke to www.asianculturevulture.com earlier this summer about what the tour meant to him and how it would be different to his previous concerts in the UK, especially compared to last year.
We have ONE pair for the London concert at The SSE Wembley Arena on Thursday September 22, and ANOTHER PAIR for the one in Manchester on September 30.
AR Rahman will be joined by a stellar list of musicians – it was announced only lasy week that Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan, Jonita Gandhi and Haricharan will join him on this tour. Dayal is expected to duet with him.
All are well-known names in the Indian music industry and some have huge followings of their own – Dayal performed at the London Mela last year and Haricharan is regarded as a Tamil sensation.
Dayal is a phenomena Rahman helped nuture – uncovering him and extolling his abilities as first heard in the Malayalam film, “By The People” (2005). He is also a well-established Bollywood playback singer now, and his tracks feature in the hits, “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” (2011), and “Student of the Year” (2012) .
Gandhi is Indo-Canadian who sings in several Indian languages and first came to prominence when she sang on the Shah Rukh Khan hit film, “Chennai Express” (2013) along with Vishal Shekhar. She went onto feature in the popular “Highway” (2014) and then more recently in “Dishoom” (2016). Her voice also graces the Mani Ratnam modern romance story, “OK Kanmani” (2015) . See links below.
Mohan (pictured right) made it through TV, first appearing in an Indian reality contest show, “Popstars” and has gone on to carve out a career in Bollywood as a playback singer. Her track “Bang Bang” with Dayal is one of the biggest hits of recent times.
Haricharan (pictured) burst onto the scene in 2005 and remains on the biggest selling Tamil artists of the artists of the day.
AR Rahman said: “After the successful 18-date ‘Intimate’ tour in the US last year, we really wanted to bring it over to the UK. The show has all kinds of songs, some are Hindi, some Punjabi – there’s a lot of music to hear! I am so happy to be sharing the stage and my intimate tour with four artists I really respect. It will be a pleasure to invite Benny, Neeti, Jonita and Hari on stage with me.”
The tickets for London and Manchester can only be won seperately, so please state YOUR preference.
