IN THIS interview, director Mira Nair talks about a new musical version of her global hit film, ‘Monsoon Wedding’.
The new musical will premiere at Leeds Playhouse on June 17 and run there until July 11 and then come down on July 17 and run till August 20 2020.
These dates have not changed since the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Europe and we will tell you if they do.
Nair explains that she did a similar show at Berkeley Rep Theatre in the US and developed a structure from workshops conducted in Delhi as well.
In our conversation she explains how the story has been adapted and music from musical composer and film director Vishwal Bhardwaj will form the bedrock of this new show.
The London performances will take place at the Roundhouse Theatre in Camden, north London, a venue with a very famous history of playing hosts to some of the biggest musical acts in history.
