Cannes CET 3.15pm
EARLIER this morning, celebrated Indian cinematographer Santosh Sivan appeared at a masterclass ahead of his Pierre Angénieux Award here in Cannes tomorrow.
He spoke to Jordan Mintzer, an author and journalist for The Hollywood Reporter based in France.
Several films clips were shown of Santosh’s work. He has done over 50 films and has worked a lot in Tamil cinema alongside auteur Mani Ratnam and music maestro, AR Rahman.
The two are currently working on a film together called ‘Zuni’ about a poet-warrior and set in Kashmir, where temperatures dipped to -14C, Sivan told the audience today.
We have our own interview with Sivan and tomorrow (Friday, May 24)he will receive the award from Angénieux in a special ceremony in the Palais building here in Cannes. Angénieux are a French camera lens making company and this award is part of the official Festival De Cannes (May 14-25).
