International Film Festival and Awards Macao (IFFAM) – glitzy Red Carpet hits high notes on opening night…

Macao (China)

THERE was huge excitement and anticipation here as the 3rd edition of the International Festival and Awards Macao (IFFAM) got underway earlier this evening (December 8) on the one-time Portuguese island colony, just off the coast of mainland China.

Nicolas Cage was perhaps the most famous of all faces on the glitzy red carpet as a collection of stars far better known in these parts graced the opening film premiere, ‘Green Book’.

This coterie was led by ambassadors Aaron Kwok, a singer and actor from Hong Kong and Lim Yoona, who originated from the pop scene in Korea and has gone onto enjoy much success as an actor in TV and film now.

We will have more from the festival tomorrow but among the personalities who were on the red carpet this evening – the talent from the Indian horror film, ‘Tumbbad‘, which this evening opened the Flying Daggers strand of the festival; Vasan Bala, the director of the cultish and Toronto International Film Festival audience award winner, ‘The Man who feels no pain’ which features in the main competition here; actress Tillotama Shome, who is on the main competition jury; and India filmmaker and cinematographer extraordinaire, Sunny Joseph, who is on the Netpac jury.

More to follow tomorrow (UK time).
