FASHION designer Rina Dhaka and singer Kavita Krishnamurthy were the star attractions as the curtain came down on the UK Asian Film Festival’s 26th edition in London (May 2-12).
Sadly, Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor was ill and could not attend as billed.
She sent a video message to the audience at The Kiln in Kilburn, north London on Sunday, May 12.
She told a disappointed crowd that she was ill and been advised against travelling.
The evening ended on a high note with The Golden Flame Awards and a Lifetime Achievement accolade for Shabana Azmi, one of India’s best known indie film actors. She is celebrating 50 years in cinema and was given her Flame award by British actor Navin Chowdhry – who had appeared alongside Azmi in the film, ‘Madame Sousatzka’ (1988)
