Preti Taneja ‘We That Are Young’ book launch event with acv and globooks at Waterstones Piccadilly

A summer book event you must not miss… 😉
Important amendment 25.07.2017 – the book will not be available to purchase on the evening but see below…

WE ARE DELIGHTED to announce that and will be hosting a special book launch event on Friday, July 28 at Waterstones Piccadilly, London.

ACV editor Sailesh Ram will talk to author, broadcaster and human rights activist Preti Taneja about her debut novel, ‘We That Are Young’.

Globooks founder and editor Philip Chadha will also do a short introduction to the event.

Come and hear about this amazing book and enjoy Indian snacks and a glass of wine or non-alcoholic refreshments. There will also be the chance to network after the talk.

The book is on pre-order and is already generating huge excitement and anticipation.

Andrew Motion, the former Poet Laureate, described ‘We That Are Young’ as “utterly engrossing, very smart, very moving… subtle, ambitious and highly original”.

Taneja’s novel is an imaginative and bold retelling of Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’ set in contemporary India.

Taneja brings her both her profound engagement and considerable erudition to startling effect in the pages of ‘We That Are Young’.

Published by the independent Galley Beggar Press, Taneja’s novel is an exploration of modern India and a particular family trying to negotiate the challenges.

Her novella, ‘Kumkum Malhotra‘ was met with high praise and many noted her very original style and considerable flair.

The publishers of ‘We That Are Young’ have compared her to the multi award-winning novelist Eimear McBride whose ‘A Girl is Half-formed Thing’ was rejected many times before being published to huge acclaim by Galley Beggar Press.

So, this is a summer book event not to be missed.

Please join us on Friday, July 28 at 6.30pm on the Fourth Floor of Waterstones, Piccadilly.

Tickets are £10 (including advance purchase of the book, Indian snacks and drink) and will be available from Waterstones now – see here please

You can still register your interest here with Globooks, it has some goody giveaways in connection – more details about that soon!
