The first film in Competition from India in 30 years screened here last night…
PAYAL KAPADIA could well become a regular fixture here – like some directors. Her second feature and her first fictional narrative film, ‘All We Imagine as Light‘ had its world premiere screening here last night and has been warmly received.
It is a beautiful film but some more used to the pace of mainstream (Indian) cinema might find a little hard going initially – please stick with it – lyrical, thoughtful and beautifully shot and acted, it offers much to those give it time and the space for dreams and hopes to emerge with the characters as you watch…
Her lead cast – the central characters are all women of different generations and they joined her both on the Red Carpet last night and in the press conference centre just next door to where this is being composed in the media centre in the main Palais De Festivals building which also houses the main theatre – the Grand Lumiere where the cast and crew will walk the Red Carpet here and then watch the film with around 2,000 people sat in the theatre.
We have video of the red carpet (will drop on YouTube and click notifications to know when) from last night (Thursday, May 23) and a review and snippets from this morning’s press conference and will run a review too. Keep tuned! And following everything across YouTube and our social media to keep informed.
