‘Humare Ram’: Ancient wisdom now descends on the capital live!
It enthralled nearly a million people in India and now this stage show spectacular comes to London on a time-limited run…
THERE are shows that entertain, and then there are shows that quietly take hold of you – reshaping the way you think, feel and remember.
‘Humare Ram’ (Our Lord Ram), the acclaimed stage production about to hit the UK and London, belongs firmly in the latter category, believe its producers.
It is not simply a retelling of the Ramayana; it is a deeply felt, contemporary meditation on devotion, duty and the human search for meaning, they suggest.

What makes ‘Humare Ram’ so compelling is its refusal to lean on spectacle alone, they argue.
The staging is visually arresting – a blend of classical aesthetics and modern theatrical know-how – but the heart of the production lies in its emotional complexity, say those who have conceived ‘Humare Ram‘.
In a starring role is Ashutosh Rana – one of India’s best known TV actors who reprises his role of Ravan after a 25-year gap.
This is, as the original writer of the ‘Ramayana’, Valmiki surely intended – shows few things are black and white, good and evil can be two sides of the same coin – and even Ravan – in orthodox tales, an out and out villain – is infused with a nobility and authority that can challenge the familiar.
“Ravan is one of literature’s most complex characters. ‘Humare Ram’ invites audiences to look beyond good and evil and explore the deeper human questions that continue to shape our lives today,” pointed out Rana.

Rahull R Bhuchar, who plays Shri Ram, is excited about the prospect of bringing one of civilisation’s best known tales to familiar and new audiences in London.
He said: “To bring ‘Humare Ram‘ to London is to bring it to families who have carried this story across generations and continents. This is more than a theatre production; it is a celebration of heritage, storytelling and shared identity.”
The performers seek to embody spirituality without losing the sense that this is also entertainment and spectacle and learning. Moments of quiet contemplation sit alongside passages of soaring musicality, creating a rhythm that feels both ancient and of the moment, as it should be, in the theatre.
The show’s creators understand that mythology is not a museum piece. It lives, breathes and evolves with each generation.

This interpretation of Ram and the Ramayana – there are many – is not distant or idealised; through the figure of Shri Ram – knowledge and idealism run side by side – alongside a profound and vulnerable humanity – anyone can relate to this figure, even though in a production of this nature, his divinity is neither questioned or a subject of conjecture.
He is a symbol of profound humanity, navigating moral complexity with grace and wisdom. His wife, Sita, is rendered with striking depth too – her strength radiating not from grand gestures, but from the quiet resilience that shapes her journey. The result is a narrative that feels intimate, recognisable and surprisingly modern.
For many in the audience, ‘Humare Ram’ becomes more than a piece of entertainment or theatre, it seeks to become a memory, an inspiration, a time to grow and feel closer to the divine, if you are looking to that.
It also becomes a moment of connection — to heritage, to memory, to the stories told by grandparents & elders and carried across continents.

This is theatre as a communal act, where the audience is allowed to breathe, both individually and together…
‘Humare Ram’ offers not just a story, but an experience one that feels restorative, grounding and resplendently human.
For anyone seeking an evening that nourishes and feeds the soul and contains stories and feelings told since the dawn of an Indic civilisation, it is an invitation to join hands and pass the baton of love, humanity and compassion down to the next generation.
