EE Baftas Film Awards 2026 – Indian film ‘Boong’ wins, along with gongs for Wale Davies, Wunmi Mosaku, Ryan Coogler and Chloe Zhao…

🎥 Indian film, ‘Boong‘, directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, produced by Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar and co-partner at Excel Entertainment, Ritesh Sidhwani collect award for Best film in Children and Family Film category ; Devi and Sidhwani speak to press – at winners’ press conference; ‘Boong‘ is set in troubled Indian state of Manipur wracked by ethnic violence in 2024, shortly after the film was finished. Its child stars had to flee their homes. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) that year and has played in many festivals thereafter. Last India win was AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty for their work on ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ in 2008

🎥 Brit Robert Aramayo wins BOTH EE Rising Star award and Best Actor award, beating off stars such DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke – whom he said had inspired him when he visited his school and talked about acting
🎥 Bollywood star Alia Bhatt and Riz Ahmed (‘Hamlet‘) among star presenting awards yesterday evening at the EE British Academy of Film & Television Arts Film Awards, held at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank
