‘DELHI CRIME’is a seven-part drama series that has just bagged India’s first ever International Emmy Award.
Based on the real-time events in the investigation into the Delhi rape case of December 2012, it centres the drama around three principle characters – DCP Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah), Inspector Bhupendra Singh (Rajesh Tailang), Rasika Dugal (Neeti Singh, Indian Police Service trainee).
Acv talks to showrunner, writer and director Richie Mehta as he tells us about his feelings winning the award, how the series came to be made and the important contributions made by women to this ground-breaking drama. Acv covered ‘Delhi Crime’ at its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2019.
