ACV Bird Eye Review Show Episode 11 (March) Girl Power edition – ‘The Girl on the train’; Bombay Begums and Leeches (Bandra Film Festival 2021)

IN our latest review of the OTT space from the subcontinent, Natalie Barrass gets her bird claws into dramas where women are in the front seat (and back and just about everywhere and leading from the front)…and it being the month of International Womens’ Day (on March 8)…

‘The Girl on the Train starring Parineeti Chopra in a remake of the Paula Hawkins’ novel that was originally based in the UK (unlike the Emily Blunt starrer which relocates the story to the US).

Bombay Begums – which has caused huge furore in India because of a particular scene involving a 13-year-old girl. There has also been a lot of general criticism about this six-part women- centred drama, let Nat tell you more…

‘Leeches – this 27-minute long Bandra Film Festival drop packs a punch and gets our Nat most excited…why? Perhaps Sayani Gupta (Four More Shots, Please) and director Payal Sethi have the answer…
