‘Passing’ – actor Amy-Leigh Hickman and writer Dan Sareen about new play which they say is a bit like ‘East is East’ (video)

A new play comes to a theatre with a reputation for putting on exciting and diverse work…

RACHEL SINGH (Amy- Leigh Hickman) is looking to connect with her cultural roots and wants to celebrate Diwali in a traditional way.

This is what lies at the heart of writer Dan Sareen’s first full-scale production, ‘Passing’ at The Park Theatre, known for doing new and innovative new work.

In this interview with Hickman and Sareen we learn what insipired the writer, how his own background and others with similar have helped him to shape it and share some of the experiences of what it means to be biracial in contemporary modern Britain.

Hickman describe’s Rachel’s family set up and her relationship with Indian origin father (Bhasker Patel).

The play has just opened and will officially premiere on Monday (November 6).
