Screening here at the Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard section…

FOR THE FIRST time in recent memory, a film from Pakistan featured in an official selection here at the Cannes Film Festival.

It had its world premiere yesterday (May 23) at a packed theatre Salle Debussy.

Look out for our interview with the brilliant Sarwat Gilani who plays the wife of the older brother of Haider (Ali Junejo) who falls in love with transgender performer Biba (Alina Khan).

Director Saim Sadiq’s introduction is professionally shot with the kind permission of the audiovisual office of the Cannes Film Festival. The end is amateur phone footage.
