IT HAPPENED! For many, Cannes is synonymous with one very famous Indian actor who has been an icon since she first came to Cannes with the Bollywood blockbuster epic ‘Devdas‘ in 2002.

Tonight, she walked the red carpet for her brand sponsors L’Oreal Paris at Festival De Cannes, to give its official name, to mark the world premiere of the film, ‘Histoires De La Nuit‘ (‘Night Stories‘) by Lea Mysius, starring Monica Belluci.

Ash, as she commonly known among her ardent followers, wore a Delhi-based Amit Aggarwal blue gown and appeared in good spirits as she made a heart sign, waved to the crowds, obliged photographers and looked at us and spent a short time talking to the head of the festival, Thierry Fremaux and President Iris Knobloch at the top of those very famous stairs.

Ash was on the Red Carpet for just over 10 minutes and arrived before Belluci and director Mysius entered at about 7.55pm for an 8pm film time start.

For days, there had been fevered speculation as to where Ash was and even whether she would attend at all. Now she has…many can look forward to her walking again for the Closing Ceremony tomorrow when the Palme D’Or winner – the festival’s top prize will be revealed after 12 days and many screenings, photo calls and press conferences here.
