Cannes 2026 – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has arrived…
Cannes 9am CET – Often described as the Queen of Cannes, the star is likely to do publicity for her sponsors L’Oreal Paris later today…
EVERYONE interested in Cannes and the star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been asking… where is she? Another Bollywood megastar Alia Bhatt came saw and conquered last week – leading some to frame this as old v new – Ash v Alia…see some of the comments to our viral 6.8m viewed Instagram Reel of Bhatt (see below).
Lat night, there were pictures online of the star at Mumbai Airport which means she should be in Cannes and in the Martinez hotel, where L’Oreal ambassadors reside when they are here.
It’s a big moment – she is expected to walk the Red Carpet tomorrow for the Closing Ceremony – but you can never be quite sure she won’t surface today…the protocol is for publicity pictures to be realised today and then the Red Carpet walk in the evening… Keep a tab of her Instagram and L’Oreal Paris accounts – we, as in acv, expect to be on the Red Carpet both tonight and tomorrow.
Last night, www.asianculturevulture.com witnessed cinematic history – as the small nation of Nepal marked its entry into pinnacle of independent filmmaking with a famed walk by the cast and crew of ‘Elephants in the Fog‘ on the Red Carpet here. This is feature film by Abinash Bikram Shah which screened in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section – one down from Competition.
See our video of the Shah and the cast ascend those famous steps and be greeted by Thierry Fremaux, effectively the head and Delegate General of the film festival and Iris Knobloch – the President of the Cannes Film Festival.
Shah’s film is about a transgender community called Kinnear in Nepal – these communities exist across South Asia but have perhaps never been given the limelight they have enjoyed here with the world premiere and a Nepal first – for the screening of ‘Elephants in the Fog‘ – we will have a review and more about the film soon… it is the first time a film from the Himalayan nation has featured in official selection here.
Make sure you’re connected to our socials and subscribe to YouTube to see all our coverage from this year’s festival and don’t miss Ash on the Red Carpet – you can see just her here – all being well.
