‘The Taste of Mango’ – a powerful South Asian family story of women survivors (video)

THIS is a tale of three women – a grandmother, her daughter and her daughter in turn.

Made by the daughter Chloe Abraham, she interrogates both her grandmother and mother about their relationships with the men in their lives and what led them to behave as they did. Powerfully, these men are not depicted and correctly do not have a voice in this film.

Some of the film, which is shot mostly at the Abrahams home in London, also takes place in Sri Lanka.

This is not for the squeamish but tells an important story of survival and ultimately, Abraham’s narrative shows that from personal horrors lives can be rebuilt, reconstructed and set on a more positive path…

The film goes on general release from November 29 in the UK…
