Cannes live 8.30pm (CET)/7.30pm BST
Day 6
WES ANDERSON’S latest film, ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ has just enjoyed its world premiere Red Carpet with several – but not all – of the film’s stars in attendance…
Benico del Toro and Mia Threapleton star in this film very simply described in the ticket listing, as a family drama about a family business.
Set around a fictional tycoon, ‘Zsa-Zsa Korda’ (del Toro) and his daughter who he has not seen for six years; the two aim to bond as Korda wants to groom ‘Liesl’ (Threapleton) into taking over from him.
As with his last film at Cannes ‘Asteroid City’ (2023), there is a strong supporting cast which includes Scarlett Johannson, Tom Hanks, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Bryan Cranston, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Michael Cera. Not all of them are in Cannes.
The film is currently screening at the Grand Theatre Lumiere and is scheduled to finish at 8.45pm
More to follow from us in the way of updates from here – including a review of the British-Nigerian film, ‘My Father’s Shadow’ by Akinola Davies Jnr, with a script from his brother, Wale – it is a deep family story, about two brothers and their dad, set against the result of the tumultuous General Election in Nigeria in 1993.
We have more from here soon – we are updating the site over the next few days with many of the videos that have already dropped on Youtube and other interviews to follow…Fly High with the Bird here at Cannes – marking 10 years of making videos here!
