WE’RE ABOUT to rush off into the cinema where we can watch the main awards ceremony – here’s a picture of the talent behind a film which has had a lot of buzzy attention and featured as A runner up in many of the independent jury awards presented earlier this afternoon. It appeared to win in one important category.

Will this film, ‘Lesbian Space Princess’, made by Aussies Leela Varghese and Emma Hough Hobbs now win in any of the main Berlinale award categories – it did pick up the Teddy Award, which is given to best film representing LGBTQIA+ interests at films screened here.
Showing in the Panorama section, we saw it at its world premiere in a packed theatre which absolutely adored it – can the energy of that and its popularity in the audience categories push it through further – Varghese and Hough Hobbs were not present at the earlier awards ceremony when other filmmakers collected awards in person – maybe we missed one of the team – a whole stack of awards were presented earlier in a ceremony that lasted almost two hours.
