LFF 2024: Brit Sandhya Suri’s ‘Santosh’ talks women, inspiration and what she’s doing next… (video)

Earlier today the film had its first screening in the UK at London Film Festival (LFF) after its world premiere in Cannes…

SANDHYA SURI is a filmmaker with a hand in both documentary making and narrative fiction more recently.
Her latest film, ‘Santosh’ – her first full length narrative fiction feature was selected to screen in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
Set in India, ‘Santosh’ is the name of the lead character played brilliantly by Shahana Goswami – she joins the police force in a scheme reserved for widows of police officers and it is there that she meets the formidable Inspector Sharma (Sunita Rajwar) – and the pair have to investigate when a village girl’s body is found and the inquiry homes in on certain suspects. The film has one further screening at LFF on Friday, October 18 – see below…
It will next screen at Mumbai Academy of Moving Image Festival, better known as Mami (October 19-24). It is still seeking UK and India distribution at the time of this video dropping.
