IRRFAN KHAN and Norah Jones were among the international entertainment stars garlanded at the recent Asian Awards.

There were a host of celebrities at the Asian Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane on Friday (April 4) but sadly the bird didn’t capture them all…or very many actually…

Where is Zayn Malik you might ask? We don’t know.

Where is Idris Elba? Okay, there’s no need to be like that. Like what? We’re sorry, we saw him present the Founders Award, but again…(above, that’s the best we can do).

It was probably the highlight of the evening when anti-apartheid campaigner Ahmed Kathrada received that prize from Elba. Kathrada was a close companion of Nelson Mandela’s and was jailed like him for many years.

Kathrada made a very moving tribute to his fallen comrades who never got to see ‘The Rainbow Nation’ but fought so valiantly for it.

But look at the stars we did find…impressed? Oh, okay, don’t be like that.

We did see Hari Dhillon…sorry, no picture. The photographer … well, yes, between you and us, he’s not the best, but sometimes you just like someone, even if they’re not totally up to the job in question 馃槈 that’s life, isn’t it?

All the winners are very worthy but it isn’t the same when others collect prizes on their behalf, even if you had someone like Gurinder Chadha who collected the Fellowship Award for Jackie Chan.

Credit to Paul Sagoo, the awards’ founder, for bringing such a diverse group of people together and garnering such publicity with the likes of Laura Mvula (who looked amazing in a sari…you don’t want to see our snapper pictures from outside…they’re bad!) and TOWIE stars Lydia Bright and Jasmin Walia and Disney actor Amy Willerton (sorry, plenty of pictures of them elsewhere…haha).

Irrfan Khan took the prize for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema, (see him in “The Lunchbox“, out on April 11 in the UK, see here…), while Norah Jones (the late Ravi Shankar’s daughter) won for Outstanding Achievement in Music. They were not there in person to receive but there were a galaxy of other celebrities giving the event a certain pizzazz…as you can see.
