#anovelaffair – Q&A essential questions…

#anovelaffair – Q&A essential questions…

February 12 2016 (updated)

Q:What is included in the price of the ticket?

ACV: Entry to A Novel Affair, and then a couple of drinks (wine or soft drinks) and canapes – you shouldn’t have to put your hands into your pocket once you there or unless you want more than a couple of glasses of wine or more food…

Q: What is the structure of the evening…?

ACV: As you might know, there are going to be two authors – Roopa Farooki and Huma Qureshi, so there will be a chance to get to know about them and their books a bit better…there will also be a discussion about diversity and publishing and you can ask questions and make a contribution. Last week, Roopa was on the Sunny & Shay programme on BBC Radio London discussing these issues.
There’s also going to be a book game, book swap and of course the oppportunity to meet and mingle with other booklovers.

Q: A book swap…?

ACV: Yes, bring 1 or 2 books please and be prepared to swap them…

Q: What’s this book game?

ACV: This is voluntary and just a way of getting folks to have a little fun guessing book titles and descriptions. You can use the same books you’re going to be swapping. Please write a description, no more than 60 words on a piece of card or paper – don’t put the title or your name on the card or paper – nothing that can identify either you or the book. It can be hand-written or typed. The descriptions will be displayed and we will see how many people can match the descriptions with the books…there will be a prize of sorts for the person who gets the most right!

Q: What sort of food will it be? Will there be vegetarian options?

ACV: It will be finger food and there will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

Q: Are you looking to make money from this?

ACV: No, it’s not a money-making exercise. It’s like us putting our feet into the water and seeing what the temperature is. The cost of the food and drink to you doesn’t cover our costs in total, but that’s business isn’t it?

Q: I can’t make this event but it sounds good…will you be doing it again?

ACV: The simple answer is yes, we will be doing it again – though probably not until late 2016 at the very earliest. Don’t wait, book now and make sure you’re top of the list next time and get your discount for next time…

There are other events and you’ll be on our invitation list for those if you do come to this. These events will be a little more exclusive and will be centred around entertainment of a form (like a popular TV series or film perhaps).
